Bhagavad Gita Chapter 1, Verse 2

Dhrishtva tu pandavanikam vyudham Duryodhanas tada Acharyam upasangamya raja vachanam abravit

Translation:

Sanjaya said: O King, after looking over the army arranged in military formation by the sons of Pandu, King Duryodhana went to his teacher and spoke the following words:

In this verse, Sanjaya is narrating to King Dhritarashtra about the events on the battlefield of Kurukshetra. He says that after looking at the formation of the Pandavas' army, King Duryodhana, who was the leader of the Kauravas, went to his teacher, Dronacharya, and spoke the following words.

The words "Dhrishtva tu pandavanikam vyudham" means that Duryodhana saw the Pandavas' army arranged in a specific military formation. The phrase "Acharyam upasangamya" means that he approached his teacher, Dronacharya. And "raja vachanam abravit" means that he spoke the following words to his teacher.

This verse is significant because it sets the scene for the rest of the Gita. It introduces the two armies, the Pandavas and the Kauravas, and their respective leaders, and it highlights the fact that Duryodhana has gone to seek the counsel of his teacher.
