The Constitution Day is celebrated on 26 November every year. This day marks the adoption of India's first Constitution by our country’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in 1950.
The importance of this day cannot be overemphasized as it lays down our rights and duties as citizens of India. It also articulates how we can exercise these rights and duties through various mechanisms developed by the constitution itself, including:
Central Administration - A set of laws designed to ensure efficient administration within each state or union territory; these laws are similar to those found in each state's own statutes (except for minor differences). They include legislation concerning police powers, land tenure issues, local government structures etc.;
Legislative Councils/Legislative Assembly - These bodies have been created under Article 124(2) which allows them to adopt legislation once they have received approval from all members present at a session held within its precincts (excluding those who do not attend regularly due to prior commitments). Each state gets one legislative council with maximum seats reserved for elected representatives from different parties winning seats during general elections after assembly elections take place every five years;
The main objective of celebrating this day is to spread awareness among citizens about the fundamental rights granted to them by the Indian constitution.

The Constitution has been adopted as an instrument for establishing a democratic republic in which governance shall be based upon principles enshrined in it and every citizen has equal rights protected under it. It also lays down basic structure for administration including executive, legislative and judicial branches of government along with system for safeguarding individual freedoms against infringement by state authorities or others having power over him/her.
On this day, citizens are encouraged to read the preamble of our constitution and take an oath to preserve, protect and defend it at all costs.
The preamble is the first part of the constitution. It sets out the objectives of our nation and reminds us of our responsibilities as citizens. It was drafted by a Committee headed by Dr Rajendra Prasad, who was also India’s first President after independence on 26 January 1950. The original text was adopted on 26 January 1950 and came into force on 26 January 1950.
The preamble reads: "We, the People of India, having ourselves been through diverse experiences in our struggle for freedom...or having witnessed tragedies caused by foreign aggression or internal disorder...or being conscious that economic activities are inseparably linked with political rights and democratic processes..."
The longest written constitution in India’s history (apart from those enacted by separate states), it comprises around 450 articles grouped into 25 parts called “Sections” which together make up 12 schedules listing laws passed after independence but before Part IV came into effect on 27 January 1952(1).
Conclusion
